Fans of Phillipa Gregory or the Tudor family will not be disappointed. This time around, you'll learn about Henry VIII's wives #4 through #6. There was the stalwart Anne of Cleves, set quickly aside, but awarded property. The young and beautiful, but fickle, Katherine Howard, the 2nd wife of King Henry to -literally- lose her head. And the survivor, Jane Rochford, whose son briefly succeeded Henry as kind of England.

Gregory always delivers, and her history is spot ton, if a bit tainted by modern feminism. She is, however, a magician at bringing aged timelines to life in a very modern and sympathetic fashion.

If you loved "The Other Boleyn Girl", then this one should be on your must-read list as well. ( )

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I have read all the other Tudor era books by Phillipa Gregory and I was doubtful that she could still find enough material in this historical saga to match the previous books. But she does it indeed. What I love the most about Gregory as a writer is her capability to humanize a historical figure, transforming our preconceived ideas of those characters into believable - often fascinating - people, with which we can easily empathize. It does leave me wondering who she will portrait in her next book. ( )

Author did a good job using the three different girls telling their version and thoughts without a lot of jumping back and forth in time. Grew to understand what was going through the mind of each one. Finally understand more of why Henry had so many wives. Unfortunately a lot of repetition about Henry's condition, repeating their desires for a better life. Felt sorry for Anne of Cleves for the way she was brought up and realizing too late that it did not work well with Henry. Really wondered about Katherine and her wanton ways, could she have been that self-centered, clueless at 15 yrs. Jane was the one I liked in the beginning but even power got to her and then to have such a worthless uncle as the advisor. ( )

This was good. I like the merging of the stories of Anne of Cleves, Jane Boleyn and Queen Kitty. The women have such vastly different temperaments makes for a nice balance. I expected Three Sisters, Three Queens to be more similar in format to this novel.
I appreciate the sympathetic portrait of Jane Boleyn, Lady Rochford. History has not been kind to her. Jane's a small person but the author does attempt to add depth to this much maligned person. ( )
