Was underwhelmed by most of the stories within the story (the angel of death one was the exception). Hated the ending. ( ) They say never judge a book by it's cover, but with comic books that's not the case. Judging this book by it's cover made me want to read it. Rebecca Guay's artwork in this is down right beautiful. One thing I was amazed with is the fact that she can actually draw different styles within the same book (much like J. H. Williams III and his work on Promethea). Aside from the artwork, the story is well written too. Kind of reminds me if Geoffrey Chaucer and John Milton got together and wrote a comic book. It was also very clever how the pagan characters had different views for the monotheistic angels. If you're looking for good writing and very well done art work, then I highly recommend his book. Guay's intricate and beautful illustrations blend seamlessly with the stories told by Holly Black, Bill Willingham, and other well-known fantasy authors to create an intriguing story about an angel who falls from the sky and is discovered unconscious by a group of woodland faeries. Told in the style of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales each faerie tells who they think the fallen angel is so that they can decide what to do with him. Each tale told is utterly unique and has a different flavour, which is a result of the various athors who pen each tale as well as a result of the varying characteristics of each tale's teller. Overall, this slim volume is packed full of wonderful stories that culminate in a twist that none will see coming. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
