Then his mom tells him Spike’s invited too! With cute illustrations, this book focuses on overcoming fears and the long “i” sound. Didn't like it! We've read a few other Splat the Cat picture books, some of which we liked quite a bit, such as [b:Merry Christmas, Splat|6694804|Merry Christmas, Splat|Rob Scotton|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1266939291s/6694804.jpg|6890361] and [b:Love, Splat|4531717|Love, Splat|Rob Scotton|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347579553s/4531717.jpg|4580931]. This is however the second Splat the Cat early reader to come our way, and just like with the previous one, I'm not impressed. Worse though, my son didn't care for it at all either. Halfway through it he put it down to go to bed, and neither the day after nor any day thereafter could he be talked into finishing it. He didn't even want me to read the rest to him. Oh, well, we have other Early Readers to choose from ... Splat is excited about going camping until he discovers that the bully is going to be there. In this back-yard adventure Splat and his friends learn that even bullies can get scared and they all end up becoming friends in the end. This first reader has a lot of simple sentences with more difficult words in the mix and also has a lot of sentences on the page in comparison to most early reader books. This would be a great book for the more advanced reader in K-1 or a struggling reader in 2-3. Appropriate grade level for this book would be Kindergarten to first grade. This book hasn't received any awards. This book is about a cat named Splat who wanted to camp outside, until his mom told him he was going to camp out with two other cats names Spike and Plank. Spike wasn't too nice to Splat so he did not want to hang out with him at all. In the end, the three cats become good friends and promise to protect each other all night. Uses for the classroom could be games that the children can play and protect their friends in, or the children could also pretend to camp out in the classroom maybe in the play area or during recess. The kids could also write a story about how they were scared of something and a friend helped them. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
