It had been raining for days in Moominvalley, but now the clouds had cleared and it was a fine day for an adventure. Moomintroll was excited - he and Snorkmaiden and Little My, Moominpappa and Moominmamma, were all going to sail to Lonely Island to look for treasure! But by the time everyone was ready to leave, the sun had set and night had fallen. Would they ever be able to find any treasure just by the light of the moon?… (plus d'informations)

In my opinion, “Moomin and the Moonlight Adventure” is a charismatic book that will have children’s imagination soaring. The writing is very engaging because of the intriguing word choices throughout the story. I believe that this story will help children progress in their reading because it introduces them to new vocabulary. For example, “If there’s a storm, I’ll need my sou’wester. On the other hand, I’ll definitely need my Admiral’s hat. And I can’t leave my top hat behind.” I believe that young readers will have fun pronouncing the names of the different kinds of hats, and they will get to see what they look like from the illustrations. The large, dynamic illustrations enhance the story. The story is about a treasure hunt adventure into the sea that involves a main character, Moomin, and his family. The illustrations consistently display exciting pictures of this adventure that Moomin shares with his family. The plot is very suspenseful. For example, there was a part in the story where Moomin dives deep into the sea, and his family is worried about him. Moomin ends up finding a beautiful pearl inside a clam shell at the bottom of the ocean, and he swims back up to the surface to give it to his sister. The big idea of this story is to show children that life is full of fun adventures; moreover, adventures are always more fun when with loved ones. ( )

Summary:
Moomintroll goes in an adventure with his family to Lonely Island. They prepared the whole day for this picnic adventure getting everything they would need ready. It took them the whole day to gather their belongings that when they were leaving they realized the sun was going down. This did not stop them because that meant they would have an adventure under the moonlight. They wanted to go treasure hunting. The moonlight lead Moomintroll to a treasure under the sea. It was a seashell with a pearl in it. They all had a great time at this picnic.

Comments:
I like the repetition of MOO.. in the story. This repetition gives it a sense of humor. Also I like how the author conveys the importance of family and working together. ( )
