This book would be great to use in a science class. You can use it on a lesson about habitat, climate, or life cycle of a toad. The book is filled with onomatopoeias that describe the sounds of the animals and rain. This would be a great book to use to teach about onomatopoeias. At the end of the lesson, the students can write their own sentences that contain onomatopoeias. ( )

Just as with a lot of her other texts, this one has a primary focus and it is a very well told story using onomatopoiea frequently. I enjoyed it and learned about the life cycle of a spadefoot toad in the process. Good piece of nonfiction on the whole. ( )
