Not bad, but it's very much a middle story - aside from Stephanie, nothing is concluded, there's just more mysteries piled on puzzles piled on questions and confusion. Who does Sibyl support? Is she going to be an enemy of Janus House? What about the shopkeeper? On another level, why is Helen so wary of Maya? And the switch of teachers and what will be required of Maya and what Rimi can do and...I do want to read the next one, but I'm not excited to do so, I just want some answers. ( )

This is both contemporary fantasy (magic) and science fiction (aliens). It's also probably a better book than I'm giving it credit for. This series just isn't grabbing me for some reason; I skimmed this rather than read it. ( )
