This book is about a boy named Leo Lomax who's parents just died in a plane crash. He is sent to the other side of the city with his brother Hollis to live with his Uncle Crane a person he barely knows. His uncle is very rich and he collects sells rare artifacts. Leo soon finds ouy that he is a sound bender by getting a package from his dead father that was dated a year after he was born. Then finds a misterious object that his uncle has he is determined to find out what it is and were it came from.

The book's strength is that it keeps you wondering "I wonder what that is?" The book'sgenre is fantasy and although there is no action in the book :( It is still somehow a very good book. I also liked that in most ways he is a normal 13 year old kid. Although the beginning was slow I enjoyed it. Although I don't know why they threw dolphins in there?? ( )

The original idea of the book was great with Leo being able to hear things objects previously experienced but I felt they didn't explain his power enough. They also threw in the dolphins out of no where same idea different plot. Q2P2 AHS/Macey K.

After their parents are declared dead, Leo and his brother Hollis are taken in by a wealthy but distant step-uncle, and when, on his thirteenth birthday, Leo acquires the ability to hear sounds from the past when touching certain objects, he tries to use the skill to rescue a dolphin, whatever the cost.
