Well, this version of the mirror universe is sure all in on evil lesbians (well...evil bisexual women having sex with other women, at least). But it's fun! I really liked getting to see Mirror Universe Seven. My big disappointment is that this book's Garak is deeply uninteresting and even kind of depressing...but then again, I guess some people end up as losers in the Mirror Universe, that's just the way it is...? Still, I can't get behind Garak being aggressively straight. I'm sorry. Fandom has poisoned me. Right from the start we're knee deep in the politics in the Mirror Universe. It starts with Seven, an Obsidian Order agent in this universe, who is undercover as a Klingon on Khitomer. We stay with her for awhile, but, then as the book goes we get to see the story from a few different points of view. Deanna Troi, Kira, Sisko (we even see Smiley). Of course, since this is the Mirror Universe from the DS9 time period they're nothing like our regular DS9, Voyager, and Next Generation characters. There's lots of maneuvering going on in the book, it's a very political intrigue sort of Star Trek book, and it's so chock full of women too (which is awesome). And, not just that, but, it does not apologize for or ever stray into the problem that some 'women centric' books do where they say 'but also men....'. This book does not do that, and it's glorious. It was refreshing and a definite different look at the Mirror Universe. Book 2 is gonna be amazing. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Klingons and Cardassians rule the Alpha Quadrant in an uneasy alliance that hides a viper's nest of backstabbing plots and counterplots. Annika Hansen has become a trained operative for the Obsidian Order. Her latest target: Kira Nerys, the duplicitous Intendant of Bajor, whose ruthless ambition has brought her to a position of power second only to the Regent himself, the fierce Klingon warrior known as Worf. To get close to her prey, Annika must worm her way into the Intendant's notoriously fickle affections. Easy enough to accomplish, perhaps, but it remains to be seen who is truly manipulating whom....
