This one is just as good as the most famous, The House Without a Christmas Tree, and maybe even better. Addie decides to make friends with her father's enemy, Mr. Renhquist, to show the elderly recluse the true meaning of Thanksgiving. He is dead-set against her idea, but gradually becomes friends with her. Addie is also fond of his horse Treasure, and begins to take care of the horse on her visits to Mr. Renhquist. The young, spirited girl and the bitter old man become true friends, but soon Addie must realize that every friendship ends sooner or later, if only by death. This is a funny, touching, sad book that will warm the hearts of young and old alike. BTW, get the tissues handy when Addie discusses the subject of dying with her beloved grandmother. I'm in my mid 40s, and still cry every time I read this book. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
