Clementine struggles to the news that her family will be changing as her mom is having a baby. Her identity is examined and with the help of some adults in her life she is able to come to terms with her new role. This books would be beneficial to any second or third grader who has similar struggles with family, friends and school. The language is easy to read but still appropriately challenging. Clementine is a funny and smart character. I liked her a lot. Clementine is a worrier, and seeing a sign on the door for a family meeting she knows she is probably in trouble. As it turns out, it is worse than that because she is going to have a new sibling. No one even asked her! On top of that, her science project rat has escaped in the school, her best friend has discovered makeup--ugh, and she lost her favorite winter hat! But with the help of her dad and a special toolbelt, she might be able to turn things around. Clementine and the family meeting is a great story for children to read because it has the young reader process their emotions. In this story the main character has to come to terms with her feelings and mixed emotions about her mother having another baby. I think this would be a great addition for the young reader because it discusses a tough topic for some kids. In this installment, Clementine's parents announce the upcoming addition of a new family member, and Clementine takes some time to adjust to the idea. Her teacher, whose wife is pregnant too, helps her think about it, as does her grandmother, by reminding her of what a good big sister she was when her little brother was a baby. (For her part, Margaret says that if her mother had a baby, she would go to California and live with her dad instead.) * Re-read January 2020 aucune critique | ajouter une critique
