The last thing she needed in her already talk-show worthy life was to fall in love with a younger man. After two decades of looking for true love and never finding it, aging model and lingerie designer, Alexa Ranger, had finally given up searching. It's shocking at fifty to find herself wanting a sex life again, and even more shocking to be an older woman attracted to a younger man. Thirty-eight-year-old, medically retired Marine, Casey Carter, is incredibly sexy, but a relationship with the man is totally out of the question. Casey is related to her daughter's boyfriend. The last thing Alexa needs is another talk-show worthy drama in her already complicated life, no matter how well Casey kisses.… (plus d'informations)

When I originally started this book, I read a couple chapters and then put it aside because I wasn't in the right mood. Today I picked it back up and read it in a few hours.

It was quirky, fun, and engaging. I love the verbal sparring between the main characters. I love how independent Alexa is and how she knows exactly what she wants. I love how tenacious Casey is. And most of all, I love how stubborn they both are.

This book will suck you in from page 1 and leave you wanting more. ( )

"Do you think fifty is old, Sydney?” Alexa Ranger watched her thirty-five-year-old assistant and good friend take a giant bite of his club sandwich and swing his gaze to hers in shock at the same time. Then she watched him pound his chest to keep from choking as he attempted to swallow the bite around a coughing fit. “When it comes to age, it’s all about the quality of the preservation,” Sydney said at last, joking to give himself time to think."

Alexa Ranger, 50-year-old retired model and successful lingerie entrepreneur, is having a mid-life crisis and needs a change in her life. The days of partying and socializing are no fun anymore, but she promised her daughter she would stop by the party to meet her fiance’s cousin, Casey. Little did she know that her first encounter with 38-year-old, widower and wounded veteran, Casey Carter, would leave a lasting impression that would change her life forever.

I was excited to read about the topic of an older woman and a younger man which needs to be addressed more, and I enjoyed the characters with all of their flaws. Case in point, Casey has a sweet and vulnerable side but is a bit too petty when it comes to his jealousy of Alexa. She is a savvy businesswoman and a beautiful mature woman who knows how to socialize with everyone, including men and turns down advances out of respect for Casey, but she is a pushover when it comes to his ridiculous insecurity. Also, Jenna, Alexa’s daughter, is a bit immature when it comes to “scolding” her mother for her past relationships when she needs to work on her own. However, I did enjoy Alexa’s friends, Regina and Laura, and of course Alexa’s assistant Sydney.

The story is told from multiple points of view. The sex is steamy, but not over the top and there are laugh-out-loud moments, but this contemporary romance did not meet my expectations. A good attempt, but lacking depth and execution.

I needed a change from New Adult Romance and this was the pick -- a 50-year-young, established, independent, in-her-prime woman! Add a little bit of eye-candy with a very healthy sex drive and the story is just the ticket.

The story was good -- the characters all likable, to story line straight forward, nothing distasteful in dialogue, premise and outcome -- easy! Unfortunately, I found that the narrator was not good! She was a distraction in that she was overly breathy in the dialogue of the female characters and she over emphasizes the enunciation of single and double "t" to distraction. I know this may sound petty, odd and particular, but if it weren't for the story itself and for the fact that I bought this audio book rather than received it in exchange for a review, I would have stopped listening. There are far too many good books to read and to listen to that spending time on with a book read by a distracting reader feels like a misuse of precious time.

The heroine is 50, but the narrator gives her a country club snobbish voice which doesn't fit with the character written. The narrator makes every character sound as if they are catching their breath, even when they haven't just enjoyed a breathless activity. It may be that the reader is attempting to put polish and success in the voices of the females, as all of them are successful in one respect or another, but none are hoity toity and that is what I hear.

If you're interested in a humorous May-December romance with a feisty successful heroine and eye-candy, insatiable hero, you'll do well to consider reading this book.

If you are interested in a humorous May-December romance with a feisty successful heroine and eye-candy insatiable hero to listen to, skip this audio book -- or borrow from the library for a listening without paying for the opportunity. ( )

Casey has been discharged from the Marine Corps after injuries sustained in the war. He is living with his cousin, Sean, who is dating Alexa's daughter. Casey is attracted to Alexa and she is to him but she is older and is freaked out by the attraction and weird that her daughter and his cousin are dating.

I like Alexa and Casey. Casey has his work cut out for him to make Alexa understand and accept what he feels will not go away. Alexa is used to being in control of her life and emotions. She is the one others have leaned on. Now with Casey nothing is under control. The secondary characters are a fantastic. Her friends, Regina and Lauren, help and hinder her. I loved her assistant, Sydney. He is a blast! I could picture him as he doles out advice.

This got better as it went along and I look forward to the next book in the series. ( )

ehh so I finally decided to stop reading this book. I do have to say that the story was very enjoyable and I liked how it started out. but then the authors writing just stopped putting me in. I think I finally realized at about 40% of the book that it's boring and I should start reading something better. don't get me wrong, I loved the bitchy successful Alexa and ex-military Casey but I couldn't stand that there was really no good conflict in the book and it was just kind of on an off situation. good thing this was a kindle freebie because I would hat myself wasting money on this.
