I picked this up from a Little Free Library at the park we visit daily for the children's swings. Written in 3 sections, from different characters' points of view. The first section was pretty interesting, with Joe inttroducing us to a protege--a young female just starting out as a movie director. I could understand why McMurtry has a reputation for being one of the better writer of westerns. But it kind of fell apart when the other characters took over. I pushed thru the middle section, hoping that the final section told by the protege would make it all worthwhile. Unfortunately, it seems that she also was dragged down by the Hollywood scene. ( )
