This book is about an older brother, Henry, trying to get his project finished at the library and his younger sister, Beatrice, not wanting or allowing him to get much work completed because she doesn't like reading or the library. I thought this was a very cute and relatable story. Beatrice is very stubborn and is unhappy about not getting her way, an emotion many readers can probably relate to. Henry is also just trying to get a good grade and complete his work, which is an important lesson for students to respect their classmates and those trying to get work done not to distract them. Beatrice Doesn't Want To also reveals that if you find the right book for you, reading can be a fun and wonderful experience. This is great for those readers who think they don't like reading, but just haven't found the right book yet. The illustrations are fun and colorful. The characters in this book are all dogs, so I feel that would definitely appeal to young readers. Overall, I think this was a great read. ( )

Beatrice did not like to read but after saying no so many times she finally found herself in a room filled with other kids listening to the librarian. At first she was nit thrilled but when she was able to make connections with the book she became interested in reading. This is a great book that shows kids and encourages them to read. This would be a great book to read to the class to show them reading can be fun and find books that interest them. ( )

This book was adorable! It is about a do named Beatrice, who absolutely hates reading. Her brother has to babysit her, but he has to go to the library to do homework. He tries going different days, but every day Beatrice annoys him. So, one day he makes her go to a story time. She does not want to, but she ends up going and loves it! She eventually does not even want to go home when her brother does. It was a cute book adapting to reading which is great for students who don't love reading. ( )

I liked the book "Beatrice Doesn’t Want to" by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger. One reason I liked it was because of how realistic the plot was. The book showed Beatrice in the beginning not wanting to read or do anything book related but then wanting to read in the end. This is realistic because there are children out there who may not enjoy reading. Another reason I liked this book was because of the language. The language of the book was very clear and showed exactly how the characters felt. For example, when Beatrice did not want to read at first, the language of the book made it obvious by her saying “I don’t want to.” The main message of this book was “you never know till you try.” Beatrice always thought she hated reading and anything book related but once she tried it she ended up loving it. Beatrice is forced to go to the library with her brother and hates every minute of it until she discovers storytime. Lots of dialogue and might be a cute little storytime read. ( )
