Nice short stories about Asha, an herbalist that travels the world (a fictitious world) helping people.

I enjoyed reading the stories in both this book and the second of the Asha books(The Tale of Asha, Volume II: Rebirth). The stories in both books are vivid and intriguing, mystical (sometimes whimsical, sometimes melancholic) parables that can easily translate to our present day lives. Mr. Lewis' writing style is easy to enjoy, lyrical and fluid, spare and yet vividly evocative. In short, I highly recommended. ( )

I Like Asha and her new friend Priya. Asha is a herbalist who goes traveling to find new animals and plant life that can help others. Asha finds people who need to help and gets envolved and helps them. When Asha was small she got bitten by a dragon and poisened and monk took her back to his temple and with a few years was cured mostly. she still has part of the dragon on her ear and can hear plants and animals now. It has ghosts, a mongoose, sunsnakes. Its a new world he has invented. I like joseph stories and look forward to reading more about Asha in future volumes. I want to know about her past, does she find her family. Why does she not like being called a doctor but a herbalist. Its a short easy read that keeps your attention. I was given ebook in an exchange for honest review. ( )

I really enjoyed this story. Asha is a smart, considerate and...well the only word I can come up with is calculating. She never does anything without her full wits about her. Asha was bitten by a dragon as a young girl, so she can hear the souls of all living things echoing in her own ear. She refuses to be called a doctor and refers to herself as an herbalist.

Each chapter is it's own adventure, where she first saves the nun Priya, then they help a possessed little boy and finally helping a young man who lost his wife.

It was a fast read, even with it's lazy pace. And please don't take that as an insult, it was a story that felt like a smooth, relaxing trickle, even when the reality is you can read it in a few hours.

Asha, a caring herbalist, explores the land for a variety of medicinal agents and helps those she comes in contact with along the way. I really enjoyed the vivid descriptive images this author painted. I felt I was walking beside Asha and her companions on their journey.

The progressive stories are stirring and captured my interest, but I felt the characters could have been developed a little more thoroughly. I also noticed several editing mistakes that sometimes made it difficult to become fully immersed in the story. Overall though, this novella is worth the read. ( )
