This book hit home for me as my father passed away recently. The author is able to explain to children how to keep those we love alive through our memories, stories and adventures we have shared with them. In this story a young boy loses his grandfather with whom he and his family had shared many adventures such as building tree houses, hiking waterfalls, and pumpkin carving. He is just sad because he cannot understand where his grandfather has gone. His dad explains that his grandfather is in all the places that they spent time together. His presence can be felt as the memories are remembered. ( )

A beautiful book that goes into detail about memories of grandpa.

Where Is Grandpa? tells the story of a family dealing with the loss of their beloved grandpa and they way in which they cope with this loss. Although this book dealt with sad subject matter, I actually really loved this book. It focused more on the memory of grandpa and all the things that the family loved about him. Also, the illustrations were absolutely beautiful. I also really liked how it ended with the family not being sad that grandpa had died, but happy that they got to share their lives with him. Having experienced the death of my grandpa, who was my absolute favorite person, at a young age, I could definitely relate to this book. I cried happy tears while reading it, as I was remembering all the things I loved about my grandpa as well.
