This American Girl book was cute and had a lot about Hawaii as a place and a culture, but the writing was definitely not the greatest. Still, enjoyable and I think a lot of girls will like Kanani and her books. ( )

Kanani is really excited to have her cousin Rachel come to stay with her, but no matter what she does, it seems that she can't connect with Rachel. Rachel seems to want to spend all her time by herself, and she doesn't seem to even want to be in Hawai'i. In the end the girls need to open up to each other to really connect. ( )
