A novel of beauty and power, of impossible dreams realized, Coach From Warsaw is a moving, evocative portrait of a romance that transcends class barriers. This first book in a trilogy, tells the unforgettable journey of Dorrit who escapes czarist Russia to settle in Berlin with her father, a man imprisoned by dangerous secrets. It is a story that is both gripping and intelligent. A page-turner, a romantic adventure in its truest sense.… (plus d'informations)

I won this book from LibraryThing (Member Giveaways)
This book is a historical novel with romance and some intrigue.
The romance as well as the family intrigue plots were both predictable.
I was also annoyed at the repeated assertions that the nobility shows in the genes and conversely that if a poor person shows some grace it must be due to unknown noble origin. For instance one of the main characters says: "Only one of noble birth could carry herself so regally in a simple garment."
However, this book is well written and often moving. The characters are likeable and I particularly appreciated the depiction of Belle Epoque and World War One Germany. ( )

Formerly published with the title "Ticket to Berlin", "Coach from Warsaw" by Irene Magers is a rags-to-riches historical romance that is difficult to surrender until entirely complete. The well-rounded characters paint settings that are imbibed with colour, sound and a feel for the era - which is set at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries. It will take you from the homes of German nobility to the trenches of war. Magers' talent for blending the values of love and home with settings of violence and need will leave you reaching out for the second book in the trilogy. ( )

I won this book in the Member Giveaway section. I requested it because the plot intrigued me.
History, romance and a tad of adventure are woven into a nice story. I had some trouble getting into it at first, but that didn't last long. The main character Dorrit is developing in a bit predictable but still convincing way. The imagery is beautiful. ( )

I really felt very emotional towards the end of this book in that the characters made a connection with me as a reader and I really did feel upset. I don't want to ruin the story at all but lets put it this way I really want the next copy in the trilogy and have requested this as a birthday present or christmas present.

I wanted to share this book and pass it on so it immediately was passed on to my mother-n-law.

I enjoyed every bit of the drama and I see things very much in black and white when it comes to affairs etc but I really can see how it can all be grey and understand why and how others' can stray in a relationship.

It was interesting to read about labour and the feelings of both woman in the book regarding pregnancy and comparing this with today.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the children grow up in the following books and how Dorrit carry's on.

All in all a very good romance but with a lot more drama. ( )
