Despite the anticlimactic end to the big trouble that's been brewing for the last several issues, this wasn't bad for a final volume. It still jumped around a lot, and not all the endings (this should have been called Farewells instead of Farewell) were equally satisfying, but I was still pleasantly surprised at liking this last volume.
And I learned a spiffy new comic book phrase—gatefold. The cover, with its fancy French flaps, works as a gatefold, and it ends with a gatefold, a gorgeous 4-page spread.
Willingham's parting comments also won me back a little in the end.
I don't think it ever reached the same quality of storytelling after the first arc, but I'm still glad I stuck with it until the end. ( )
