Fascinating! ( ) I hemmed and hawed about whether to rate this 3 or 4 stars. Reason being was although I generally enjoyed the book, there were too many areas that were left open that I wanted to know. Such as what was going on in Stephen's mind when he was captured, what was Stephen's reaction when they finally discovered that after a long hold out at the castle, Matilda was long gone and had escaped unnoticed. There was also too many pages of repeat texts, as other reviewers have mentioned, eye color, the crown, hair color, etc. Finally, I felt I knew Adeliza better then Matilda. 4/9/2014 - decided to see if I could finish this 9/9/2014 - I just have to finally admit I'm not wanting to go any further with this. It's wonderfully written, but I'm afraid all the politics is boring me to tears (it's not a criticism of her writing, it's just a personal hang up of mine). I highly recommend it if you enjoy that sort of thing. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Appartient à la sérieWilliam Marshal (prequel)
Two very different women are linked by destiny and the struggle for the English crown. Matilda, daughter of Henry I, is determined to win back her crown from Stephen, the usurper king. Adeliza, Henry's widowed queen and Matilda's stepmother, is now married to William D'Albini, a warrior of the opposition. Both women are strong and prepared to stand firm for what they know is right. But in a world where a man's word is law, how can Adeliza obey her husband while supporting Matilda, the rightful queen? And for Matilda pride comes before a fall... What price for a crown? What does it cost to be "Lady of the English"? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
