La mejor novela del notable John Katzenbach. Intrigante, super atrapante, el final excelente. Recomiendo sin duda alguna esta excelente historia ( )

Una chica de 16 años es raptada por una pareja de psicópatas... la encierran en un sótano, la torturan, la maltratan y, no contentos con esto, lo retransmiten todo por Internet. Un viejo profesor de Psicología ya jubilado parece ser su única vía de escape...

Adrenalico anche se un po' troppo " forte ". L'argomento trattato è molto angosciante. ( )

This is the first book I've read by Mr. Katzenbach. Based on the description (which really did sound like a recent L&O SVU episode and that was what initially intrigued me), I really thought the book would be... uh... edgier. As it is, it's a pretty straightforward mystery and (kind of a) thriller. I wasn't at the edge of my seat or had any doubt about how the book would end. All that being said, if you like the "regular" mystery/thriller genre that doesn't shock or inject horror, you'll probably like this one. ( )

I got this book for free at the PLA (Public Library Association) Conference this past March. I brought home just over 30 free books--all of them the "uncorrected proof" copy. This is one of my favorites! I found it captivating. I was hanging on the edge the whole time. I really appreciated that there was some detail given, but not too much, as far as the rape and beatings go.... I didn't really want to delve deeply into the gross-out factor, though it takes a lot to really turn me off. But this book just skimmed the surface. I'd like to read more by John Katzenbach. ( )
