Fiction. Literature. Humor (Fiction.) HTML:The steps of a charmingly complex danceâ??Scotland's famous reelâ??are at the heart of Hester Browne's enchanting contemporary novel of two very different sisters whose dreams may come true at a romantic Scottish ball.
Evie Nicholson is in love . . . with the past. An antiques appraiser in a London shop, Evie spins fanciful attachments to Victorian picture frames, French champagne glasses, satin evening gloves, and tattered teddy bearsâ??regardless of their monetary value.
Alice Nicholson is in love . . . with Fraser Graham, a dashing Scotsman whom Evie secretly desires. As crisply neat and stylish as Evie is cheerfully cluttered, Alice is a professional organizer determined to pull her sister out of her comfort zoneâ??and who presents her with an irresistible offer.
As a favor to friends of Fraser's family, Evie jumps at the chance to appraise a Scottish castle full of artifacts and heirlooms. What could be more thrilling than roaming the halls of Kettlesheer and uncovering the McAndrews' family treasuresâ??and dusty secrets?
But crossing paths with moody heir Robert McAndrew has Evie assessing what she wants the most . . . and at an upcoming candlelight gala, a traditional dance will set her

This was disappointing. I've enjoyed everything I've ever ready by Hester Browne. Her characters are intelligent, take-charge type of women. Evie... was not. She honestly made me grit my teeth, and I did not find the eventual romance believable at all. I also found the plot a bit forced. ( )

This book was everything I wanted it to be. I couldn't help but wonder if Hester had been following me around and wrote a story about exactly who I want to be. If you love antiques, stories, and history, read this book! ( )

Evie works at an antique shop, where she is always getting in trouble with her boss for buy raggedy teddy bears and old wedding pictures. She is excited to get a chance to value antique furniture at a Scottish castle, whose owners need to sell some stuff to raise cash. At the castle, Evie finds secrets and romance. ( )

I liked Evie better as the book went on. At first she seemed a little too obsessed with the past and the imaginary life she lived there. While the romance was nice, I really liked how Evie was able to take a chance on real life. ( )
