(Picture Book 2) This is one of my all-time favorite books! I love the message it sends and the creative way in which it promotes that instead of "making a mistake" it is a chance for you to make a "beautiful oops". For example instead of a rip of paper ruining a project, it can become the mouth of an alligator. Or spilled paint can be turned into an animal. It takes all sorts of art "mistakes" and finds creative ways to turn them into something new. I ALWAYS read this book at the beginning of the year and then use the term "beautiful oops" for the rest of the year. I love to see students just say "oh I'lll just make a beautiful oops" if they make something they consider to be a mistake. It takes the pressure off of kids who think they have to do things perfectly-- and not just art but other subjects too!

I love that this book is so relatable to my own experiences. Sharing what I go through to my kids and letting them know that mistakes do happen is something I so strongly want to do. Take that mistake and make it into something beautiful! We make mistakes, and some people think that others aren't going through the same thing when they probably are. This helps you understand that it is ok ! ( )

"Beautiful Oops" by Barney Saltzberg is a great reminder that mistakes do happen and may not seem ok, but are worth exploring! Such a great reminder to kids that even if you make a mistake it is an opportunity to make something beautiful! ( )

summary: When something goes wrong, it's not always the worst thing that could happen.
reflection: I had fun reading this book because it's so interactive and fun to read! What a perfect book for children who need to practice their motor skills. It also teaches a great lesson to kids, and everyone, that not every mistake is wrong. Sometimes it can be a good thing and create something new and exciting!

A wonderful book that reminds children that it is OK TO MAKE MISTAKES! Embrace and invite mistakes to be made! don't be upset when you make mistakes look to them as chances to learn, to grow and to embark on adventures from! This is a wonderful book. A book that every child should come across at least once in their lifetime. Such a great life lesson. I would recommend ages: 3-8 ( )
