Nancy exaggerates - well, makes up - details for her family history report about her grandfather, but has to rewrite it when he decides to come to class for her presentation. ( )

Nancy's school is doing reports on their ancestors and everyone researches their family history. Nancy is a little disappointed that her family history is rather ordinary, so she starts to exaggerate a bit about their deeds.

In this title, Nancy learns a valuable lesson about not lying just because the truth isn't as convenient as you'd like it to be. While the moral is nice, this story somehow didn't have the usual pizzazz of a Fancy Nancy title. It's a perfectly acceptable book, but it's just not my favorite in the series.

As usual, Nancy helps her readers learn new words by introducing 'fancy' words into the text. The illustrations are as always full of details and liveliness. ( )

Nancy has a project where she learns about her family history. She gets her info from her grandpa and he decides to come see her present. She then sees other kid’s projects and changes her project to lie about her family so they are fancier until she doesn’t want to disappoint her grandpa so she returns to her normal story. In the end, she is happy.

Fancy Nancy's class has been given an assignment to write about an ancestor and report on it in class. Fancy Nancy learns the value of sticking to the facts instead of embellishing her story with things which she might think are more interesting. I guess the moral of the story is the old proverb: Honestry is the best policy. This simple children's book introduces children to the concept of genealogy and ancestors while introducing and explaining a few vocabulary words. The illustrations are pretty typical of the Fancy Nancy series of books. I like their whimsical nature, but some people might think they are a little frilly. If I were using this book with children who want to learn more about their ancestors, I would make sure that part of the discussion focused on sticking to the facts in genealogical research. ( )

This is a wonderful book that introduces a few fancy vocabulary words in each book. The illustrations complement the story so well. Children can enjoy reading and learning new terms while reading for fun. ( )
