The last one that I read, book 5 or 6, was so bad I swore off the Deep Black series. But, I forgot that and restarted, giving it another chance. The same thing happened. DNF. ( ) Yawn, not impressed. This plot started OK but then devolved into a "mad-lib" fill-in-the-blanks type story. You know how those work don't you? then is a basic plot and then you insert story elements at random and read it back to yourself: "There is a new global crisis, only [pick: favorite super spy] from the [pick favorite three-letter agency] has just started a super secret wing of agents with special [super toys | super weapons]. There is developing crisis in [pick former soviet bloc country] that involves [biological weapons | nuclear weapons | nerf guns] and the agents must deploy immediately into [pick favorite exotic island location] to rescue the [prince | president | soccer mom] from certain destruction..." Been there, done that. At page 200 the central plot element was introduced -- and i laughed (no spoilers here). Can we please have something readable, compelling and semi-plausible in the thriller genre? Not recommended. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
