I gave Fallen Angel 5 stars because i LOVE the story!! I have read about vampires, werewolves, zombies, and all manner of other supernatural beings, but never have I read a story based solely on Angels. I read Hush, Hush and loved the story of a fallen angel, but Heather Terrell has brought out a whole new look on Fallen Angel. We have Ellspeth "Ellie" and Michael as our " fallen Angels" although from the beginning you are left wondering exactly what they are and why Ellie can't remember meeting Micheal 3 years ago on a trip with her parents.
You are left wondering throughout the book if the two will ever figure things out. From flying to blood lust, you will wonder along with Michael and Ellie if they actually are vampires. There are a few supporting characters, and I disliked Missy right along with Ellie, but learned to love Ruth as the support that Ellie needed even if she didn't see it for a little bit in the book. When Zeke makes himself known to Ellie and Michael, you have to wonder who is telling the truth to Ellie, her parents; who may not really be her parents; or Zeke. And if she believes one over the other, where will her path take her; good or bad?
The blurb/ summary of the book lets the reader know that there will be a battle between good and evil, but there really is only one small " battle" in the book and that is more towards the end. without giving away too much more of the book, know that in the end good prevails. Hopefully Eternity, the second book in the series will answer all the lingering questions and give us more insight into what exactly the purpose of Michael and Ellie is.
Fallen Angel is a definite must read for lovers of Hush, Hush and Evermore. Heather Terrell prevails in her writing and storytelling. ( )

I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how this book would turn out. Especially since, on page 18, I set this book aside in favor of Endure by Carrie Jones.
See, I used to be able to read two books at the same time. what would happen was I would read the one book until I got to slow or boring part, then switch. So on and so forth until both were finished.
I can’t do that anymore. I don’t know why. possibly because I haven't gotten deep into books with slow or boring parts, but I haven't been able to that for about… four months. I’ve become a very one-track minded reader.
So, when I shifted attention away from this book especially since I hadn’t gotten very deep in it, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able back into it.
My fears proved unfounded as when I finished Endure earlier his afternoon, this book immediately commenced with the sucking-of-me-in.
Now, when the ‘v’-word came up, I was offended. You see, when in a book, the main character becomes convinced of something, that, in my mind, is the author trying to convince the reader of the same thing. But seriously. The ‘v’-word, and this book. How stupid does this author assume us readers to be?
1. The title. As I said, one does not title a vampire book ‘FALLEN ANGEL’.
2. The cover. As I said, there are rarely feathers on the cover of vampire books.
3. Her parents. Biological or not, what are the chances that her parents )who are, like, missionaries) would give birth to and/or rear a vampire?
4. Her name. Ellspeth. Call me crazy, but that’s a hokey name for a vampire. I mean seriously. If you gave birth to, or adopted, or was told to raise a vampire baby, would you name that baby Ellspeth? I wouldn’t.
5. I could probably come up with more reasons, but I promised myself that I shall not hold anger over this issue. It was explained, and I was therefore appeased.
Now, the Ekeziel thing happened, an then Michael was kinda… uh, brainwashed-ified? Yeah. See, the thing is, I kind of thought that Michael was bad on his own. Wanted it, even. Why? I’m not sure. Possibly cuz he’s the one that brought up the ‘v’-word. Maybe cuz I just don’t trust Nephilim boys when THEY’RE TOO FREAKING STUPID TO EVEN KNOW THEY’RE NEPHILIM. Okay, seriously, I get the confusion towards the beginning, but after meeting professor McMaster, reading the Book of Enoch and TAKING TO EZEKIEL about it, it should be fairly obvious you’re Nephilim, but you’re still saying I have no idea.”? That is just not cool. At all.
Ruth has got the most awesome normal person ever.
Also, and there is no reason in particular reason I think this except that I want this to happen, but I’m betting her dad is Samyaza.

Bands to listen to: I was actually listening to a playlist with multiple bands on my iPod as I read this, but while reading, the bands I really noticed had songs that fit the book as they played and I read, were VersaEmerge (I mostly have songs off their EP Perceptions. I don’t think songs from their album would fit quite as WELL, but they’d probably still work) and Within Temptation (any album. They have a lot of angel symbolism in their songs, plus, their songs are just stinking GOOD)

Every single time I opened this book I wanted to smack Ellie. I think she is the whiniest heroine on the face of the Earth. I also think the whole book felt not right, the dialogue seemed forced, Michael seemed...off. I just did not finish nor did I enjoy this book. I think the cover is pretty though and I really wish I could have enjoyed it. ( )

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.

Quick & Dirty: Quick moving YA Paranormal with a fun story. The characters were a tad bit annoying and the plot was very predictable.

Opening Sentence: I watched my curtains billow in the early autumn wind that wafted through my open bedroom window.

The Review:

Ellie has always been a little different. Ever since she can remember she has had some otherworldly powers that she has never been able to explain. For instance, when she touches someone she can see some of their memories, and in her very real feeling dreams she can fly. She doesn’t know what she is, but she has kept it a secret from everyone including her parents and best friend. Then one day a new boy moves into town and there is something different about him. Michael is gorgeous and Ellie instantly feels a connection with him. Turns out Michael is just like Ellie, and together they decide to try and figure out what they are. Soon they are dragged into an ancient battle and Ellie’s not sure if they are going to pick the same side. Ellie has to decide who she can trust and what she is willing to sacrifice to protect the people she loves.

Ellie is our heroine in the books and I had a hard time liking her. There were times that she had a very strong voice and she was interesting and independent. She tries really hard to do the right thing even when it’s not easy. Then there were times when she was just dumb. She was very indecisive and changed her mind way too much. She acted before thinking and she was far too impulsive. Suffice to say I had a hard time connecting with Ellie, which made me sad because I really did want to like her.

Michael is your average good looking guy, but I found him to be a little boring. He didn’t really have any qualities that really stuck out to me. People could persuade him really easily and he was a go with the flow type of person. He was really cute with Ellie and I did like them together. They had good chemistry, but I felt that the romance developed a little too fast. Overall, I had a hard time connecting with both Ellie and Michael which made it hard for me to really love this book.

This was fast paced and the story was fun to read, but I wouldn’t really say it was unique. This was written a few years ago, and since then there have been a lot of angel books written that I enjoyed much more than this one. The plot was fairly predictable, and the characters were just mediocre. On the flip side of things it was a really fast read and overall I did enjoy the book. The writing was well done and I am excited to see what happens in the next book. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a fast read and likes YA Paranormal books.

Notable Scene:

Slowly, so slowly, he parted my lips with his tongue. The delicate, but powerful, motion took my breath away. I waited as he ran his tongue around the tip of my own and then along the ridge of my upper teeth with an alluring deliberation. The movement sent shivers down my spine.

I wanted to provoke the same reaction in him. Tentatively, I touched his tongue with the tip of mine and then sought out his upper teeth. Mimicking his motions, I ran my tongue along the ridge, but it was razor-sharp. I cried out in pain, as my blood filled both our mouths.

Instinct told me to pull back and I started to apologize, but Michael grabbed hold of me. Just like that, the intensity heightened. His kisses became more and more demanding, and I found myself swept away by his ardor and my own. My pain did nothing to lessen my desire. The feeling was so new … but the rush felt almost familiar. Like I was in one of my nightly dreams, flying high above the town below.

Ellie knew there was something different about her. She was unlike no one else. Ellie can read minds from a single touch. She also starts off having dreams of flying that to her feel so real, and when she meets Michael, he helps her to realise that she isn't dreaming she's flying, she actually IS flying. She then discovers that Michael also shares the same unique powers. Michael sees Ellie at school and recognises her from somewhere, and it turns out they met a few years back in Guatemala. Ellie's parents are professors, and they travel in the summertime to various locations to teach farmers better ways to have improved land. Michael is handsome, charming and sweet. But Michael has a secret, and when Ellie discovers that secret, she feels relieved and glad that she's finally found someone who is just like her in her abilities. When Ellie starts to remember Michael from the past, they slowly get closer and eventually romance blossoms. They are both determined to discover what they are and how they got that way. The more and more they find out, the scarier their situation and lives become.

This book is the first book in the series. The second book is called 'Eternity'. Throughout most of the story, Ellie and Michael go through tasks where they try to discover who and what they are, and their family backgrounds, etc.

In terms of characters, I liked the relationship between Ellie and Michael. I like Ellie's personality. I believe she is a strong female. Michael seems mysterious at first, and then you find he turns into a like-able character, which is good.

The ending I found quite gripping, as you are still left in the unknown, so it makes you want to carry on into the next book in the series. I want to find more about what they are, and if their relationship is still strong.

In general I enjoyed the storyline of this book. I love books about angels, nephilim and all sorts of mythical creatures. I love the way it was written. The chapters are nicely short, so if you need a break, it's got easy places to stop for one.

I gave this a four star rating because I would recommend this book as I did enjoy it, and I'm not sure if I would read it again, although I did enjoy the story. Overall I recommend this book to you if you are into books with this sort of theme.

Happy reading =) ( )
