As Americans, liberty is an inalienable right that is granted to us by God, protected by the Constitution, and upheld by our government. Yet, Barack Obama doesn't seem to share that view. To him, liberty is a threat to the government's power and something to be squashed by any means possible, as bestselling author David Limbaugh shows to devastating affect in his new book, Crimes Against Liberty. In Crimes Against Liberty, Limbaugh issues a damning indictment of President Barack Obama for encroaching upon and stripping us of our individual and sovereign rights. Limbaugh presents his case as a prosecutor would, e.g., as an indictment.

As Americans, liberty is an inalienable right that is granted to us by God, protected by the Constitution, and upheld by our government. Yet, Barack Obama doesn’t seem to share that view. To him, liberty is a threat to the government’s power and something to be squashed by any means possible, as bestselling author David Limbaugh shows to devastating effect in his new book, Crimes Against Liberty. In Crimes Against Liberty, Limbaugh issues a damning indictment of President Barack Obama for encroaching upon and stripping us of our individual and sovereign rights. Laying out his case like he would a criminal complaint, Limbaugh presents the evidence—count-by-count—against Obama. From exploiting the financial crisis for political gain, to restricting our personal freedoms through invasive healthcare and “green” policies, to endangering America with his feckless diplomacy and reckless dismantlement of our national security systems, Limbaugh proves—beyond a reasonable doubt—that Obama is guilty of crimes against liberty. Comprehensive and compelling, this is Limbaugh’s most powerful book yet.

To me, the book was an election year political TV commercial gone bad. Like the election year commercials (from either side of the political spectrum), facts tend to be cherry-picked and quotes are often taken out of context to support the perspective of the candidate. Political commercials of either political party during election time wear me out, and they often run for only 30 seconds. So a book length version of more of the same was more than I bargained for and left me unsatisfied with this book.
I found it more politicized and one-sided than I hoped for. Even George Bush, in his book "Decision Points", admitted to some mistakes and policies which didn't work, leaving some things unsettled for his successor. But there's little if any of these allowances for the current administration in this book. I also found it interesting how many of the health care ideas in this book, used to show how Obama is leading the nation to destruction, come right out the coprorate talking points generated by the Health Insurance industry, as discussed in Wendell Potter's book "Deadly Spin". In that book, Potter, a former Insurance PR head in the health insurance industry, prepared press releases and fact sheets which he now acknowleges as being developed solely to protect corporate profits - not to protect health and welfare of the American public. Those press releases became the facts which the public was hearing over the past several years, and the facts used in books like this to show anti-American leanings of Obama. However, if you're a fan of Limbaugh (Rush or David), you've probably heard these ideas before and should find the arguments soothing and quite convincing, and will likely love the book.

A thorough, well-researched, and compelling book outlining who America elected in 2008 and 2012 and how he has literally shredded the Constitution and changed the culture and attitudes of America, perhaps forever. The fact that I read this book tells you which side of the fence I am on concerning American history and values, but this book just opened my eyes even further and fills me with trepidation for the country my kids will inherit in the next several decades. There is no opinionated rhetoric in this book...it is all based in FACT, something many in this country and Washington seem to want to ignore. I know many of those same people will never change their minds, and I am not going to try, but what matters here is the enlightenment I experienced reading this book and the feeling I now have for this country: "God help us."
