About a 60 year old woman whose 85 year old musician-husband is dying. She unaccountably falls in love with a young female florist, and has a brief affair. Very beautifully and thoughtfully written. The ends all tie up a little too neatly, but all in all one of the best books I've read recently. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

'A writer to watch. A superb novel, wonderful prose' - Sandra Scoppettone Elegant, intellectual Mercedes Medina is nearing 60 and preparing for the imminent death of her husband. Twenty years her senior, he is approaching the end of his life with lucidity and confidence but, for Mercedes, the journey is not so simple. Finding herself drawn to a woman nearly half her age, she stuggles for balance as passion collides with responsibility, recklessness with loyalty and lust with love. A haunting story of change, both unforgettable and recognisable. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Light, Coming Back features a 60ish year old woman married to a crotchety 85ish year old man. Said woman sexually awakens in an unexpected way when she falls for a 30ish year old flower girl. The problem here isn't so much due to the age differences as it is to the fact the some hollow writing never does anything to explain our heroine's attraction to her old husband or to her young lover. That's a major flaw in a book that is supposed to be half emotional reflection and half emotional epiphany. Better luck next time. ( )
