Witnessing all the event is Ian, a set designer who is working in the theatre owned by Richard, and all his crew. Ian is very much interested in David, and David is encouraging him, both to have something or someone against Richard and also, I suppose, because he is attracted by Ian.
This is less than 20 pages, but I really liked David: he is genuine and happily gay, without being flamboyant; he is also outrageously out, and one of the reason why he is arguing with Richard is that the man is denying the obvious, that he is having a sexual relationship with David and that the boy is there only for that reason.
Ian would like to steal David from Richard, but I think he is also aware that David is high maintenance, and not only on a monetary level: a relationship with David is all or nothing, and above all, you cannot hide him in the closet, he is sparkling and shining like a pot of gold, and like a pot of gold he is the secret desire of many, men and women alike.
