It’s just possible that there are other, more salacious, editions of this work, even though this one does carry the epithet ‘unexpurgated’. It’s relatively tame stuff, mostly relying on the fact that three concupiscent women in a ménage become involved with the single male invited over for the weekend, and on the changes that may be rung with these four characters. The females comprise mother and daughter, and a (predictably) virginal companion. Interestingly, the latter accepts our hero’s marriage proposal before her fragile state is changed! Coupling is, however, exclusively either ‘missionary’ or the simple inversion of that time-honoured arrangement, and the number of apertures occupied amorously is in the singular, apart from a small mount of lip-work. Neither is there the slightest hint of the flagellatory impulse that spices up much of this period’s erotic literature, or indeed any fetishistic tendencies. That said, the staying power imputed to our hero is practicably modest, and the action is reasonably credible. It’s a distinct possibility that the large number of editions of this story is more a reflection of its innocuousness than its popularity. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
