The largest SF bookshop in the world!

Originally located in Bedfordbury before moving to 10 Berwick Street in Soho.
The shop was started by Derek "Bram'" Stokes, Diane Lister (later Diane Stokes) joined in 1969. The shop was managed by fantasy author Stan Nicholls.

Nick Landau (later to be founder of Forbidden Planet and Titan Entertainment Group), was a customer of the shop, and produced a fanzine on the shop's Duplex machine. Stokes and Landau Also assisted in getting the British Comic Art Convention started from 1968–1981. Stokes was the main organizer of the 1969 and 1971 editions of the UK Comicon.

The shop was also the address for the Fortean Times magazine from 1978-1981, and the editing team met every Tuesday afternoon in a room above the shop.

The shop's final move was to a much larger ground floor and basement premises in St Anne's Court off Wardour Street in Soho. It closed in 1981.

The store's lease was owned by the Salvation Army, a Christian group that had dedicated itself to buying leases in Soho, London, to prevent the spread of pornographic shops, and so Derek had to persuade them that he was selling children's comics and Victorian fiction. :D
