Columbia Books began October 1, 1977 and has been continuing along ever since. The store presently lives in a 3-level late art deco style structure complete with the original oak floors, barrel vaulted ceiling, leaded stained-glass window, wrought iron railings and radiators. The books are an eclectic mixture of 65,000 volumes ranging from new releases to antiquarian volumes 400 years old, emphasising books which are interesting and have some literary merit. We also have a large accumulation of prints, maps, ephemera, interesting older periodicals.

I love this place. I should go more often. The building it's located in is very interesting, as well. Fred the cat is always very helpful in picking out books. I'm sorry about that one time I stepped on you Fred!
