FEATURES
Flooded in natural light from floor to ceiling windows that overlook the heritage oaks of Belameda Park, the Belmont Library offers tranquil space for reading, reflection and study at the same time that it invites vibrant community interaction. Neighbors reconnect while browsing through the new books of our “Marketplace.” Folks of all ages love to nestle around the fireplace of our cozy reading room or bask on our sunny patio with a good book. Our friendly staff will make you feel right at home. We were dubbed a “snug gem” by the San Francisco Chronicle, an endearment we’re proud of.

FREE SERVICES AND AMENITIES:
•An eclectic, up-to-date collection of books, magazines, books on CD, music CDs, downloadable books and music, and DVDs

•multimedia foreign language collections including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, and Spanish

•daily story times for babies through preschool

•an adjacent playground

•weekly computer classes

•weekly book discussion groups for all ages

•weekly teen-friendly programs ranging from gaming to crafts

•monthly author visits from such celebrated writers as Michael Chabon, Leonard Downie Jr., Robert Stone, Walter Mosley, Greg Mortenson, Laurie King and Val McDermid

BOOKS AND DONATIONS
The Friends of the Belmont Library operate a small bookstore in the lobby of the library that is open the same hours as the library. In addition, they also operate a Book Nook at Twin Pines Park. The Book Nook is open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the 2nd Saturday and the following Sunday and 4th Friday and the following Saturday of every month. The Friends of the Belmont the Library also produce 2 large blow-out weekend book sales a year, usually in December and May.

The Belmont Friends of the Library do accept book donations. Small donations may be dropped off at the library. Large donations need to be reviewed by Adele Carney. Adele may be contacted at 650-593-5650. The following will not be accepted for donation:

•Magazines

•Damaged or soiled books

•VHS tapes

•CDs or DVDs without cases and/or covers

•Out-of-date textbooks

•Out-of-date computer books

•Out-of-date encyclopedias

•Automatic Payment Machine is available.

•Internet Manager software manages computer signups and reservations.

•Computer Reservations may be necessary M-F, 3-5 PM.

•ADA Computer: specialized PC with large monitor, font, keyboard mouse and joystick

HOMEWORK CENTER
•The Belmont Rotary Club Homework Place provides drop-in tutoring for students in grades 3-12 from 3-6 pm Monday through Fridays.

•The Homework Place is equipped with 4 computers for use on homework assignments.

MEETING AND STUDY ROOMS
•The Taube Community Room is mainly used for library events. Community organizations that wish to use the room need to fill out an application with the Belmont Parks and Recreation Department and pay a $25 processing fee.

•The Belmont Library has 3 study rooms which may be reserved up to 30 days in advance. During the school year, we give priority to students from 3-5 pm Monday through Friday. This policy is in place in order to encourage students to take advantage of these resources. These rooms can seat a maximum of 5 people.
Tax Resources

•Librarians are trained to help patrons use the IRS website to get state and federal forms online.
