Heading out today to the Fort Lewis Lodge bnb, in the Shenandoah mountains. I'll carry some of my Valley campaign books with me as usual (see tag "The Valley" in my collection). Jackson's Valley Campaign is a good place for folks to start. Tanner's opus, Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign, remains imo the best single volume treatment of the campaign. Great insight can be gained from studying Stonewall's topographer, Jed Hotchkiss; Make Me a Map of the Valley and, a personal favorite (beautiful book), Mapping for Stonewall: The Civil War Service of Jed Hotchkiss. Happy reading, see you Monday!

I live in Atlanta and tried a lawsuit with Bob Tanner as the attorney for the opposing party. He is very smart and thorough. I have read both editions of his book and thought they were excellent.

He did. Bob is a very good attorney. It was a medical malpractice case and he represented the doctor. It was in a small town and I knew we were in trouble when the doctor and the judge went to lunch together.

Ah, yes, that was a clear enough message!

It's called "home cooking". You are being cooked by the home boys.

Read Shenandoah Valley 1862: Stonewall Jackson outmaneuvers the Union, a typical nice little Osprey. Very good area maps. The battle maps as usual with Osprey spread over 2 pages where the center of action is in the crack. I wish they wouldn't do this.Great starter book on the subject. I was not impressed with their bibliographic work; for instance leaving out Tanner's Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign.

Again, if you have an interest please look at these titles;

> 7 Nice collection of Stonewall Valley Campaign books. Now all you need is to build a miniature of the valley.
