I have a Church library which I'm going to start putting on LibraryThing. Each book has their own number, kinda like a barcode but without the barcode itself. Has anyone else tagged their books with such numbers?

I read books borrowed from the National Library Service for the Blind and I am tagging those books (works: NLS) to indicate thse are works I've read as opposed to books I own (and NLS) for the collection they belong to. Eventually I want to add the NL
S catalog numbers to the comment field. I don't really see how tagging by number would be useful since presumably each book has a unique number and tags help to identify classes of things.

But tagging would be useful if coasterb wanted to be able to search for those numbers. The tags field is searchable whilst the comments field is not.

edited to add: Take a look at BTRIPP's tags. He's definitely got a unique system of numbers there. Just don't stare too hard or it starts to look like one of those seeing eye puzzles.

lol, thats interesting. I don't know what the c stands for, but I assume s=shelf and b=book order on shelf.

I have started my church library, the tags explaination is under "about my library." http://www.librarything.com/profile.php?view=BlufftonBaptist

"c" most probably is for cabinet.
