I have just fiddles around a bit with the tags used for latin books in LT. First, I combined "latin" and "latin language" because I thought they were used as synonyms. But someone corrected me and separeted them (twice!).. And I now agree... I have decided to tag my books (just as coffebean, I think) in the following way:

latin language = textbooks, grammars, dictionaries etc
latin = texts/literature written in latin (possibly bilingual)

The tag "latin" is currently by far the greatest, used almost 7000 times. But it contains BOTH categories above, i.e. both grammars, textbooks, dictionaries AND texts in latin. But maybe you who are reading this also think it is a good idea to split according to the rule above?

I agree that those two tags are distinct.

I don't personally make that distinction, though. I have seven pages of books tagged "Latin", so it's not really that much effort just to look at all of them. (Actually, maybe it is--I just tried it. I may reconsider.)

If I do decide to break down my Latin tagging further, I think I'll continue tagging them all "Latin", but also add "Latin language" and "Latin literature" tags.

Hi, Hans.
I do think that the split you suggest is more reasonable and it makes things clearer - at least for those of us who like having a look at the libraries of others ...
