I thought of making a thread about Kimi ni Todoke to discuss this series and why people are crazy about it. I wouldn't say I am one of those crazy about it but I sure love it and it is becoming one of my favorites.

After watching the anime, I kinda have a faint idea who is going to end up with who. Kazehaya and Sawako will be together for sure and then there is Chizu and Ryu. I am pretty sure they will be a couple too. As for Ayane, I am still not sure but after watching the last episode, I thought she might end up with Pin or could it be Miura?

Kurumi is one of the best rivals and I like her a lot. I never hated her even if she was competing for Kazehaya's love. Actually, I kinda like seeing her and Sawako doing their best to get Kazehaya's love, though it is obvious who is going to win.

So, what are your thoughts on this series? Do you like the anime or manga more? I am only four volumes into the manga as I am following VIZ Media's releases. The anime is great too but it definitely needs a sequel. Who do you think Ayane is going to end up with?

I've only read the manga. I was reading the scans as they were translated, at the same time as they're being released in Japan, but I gave up a few months ago, because it was just moving too slowly and I got tired of the miscommunications of shoujo. It just feels too artificial... I began reading Strobe Edge at the same time as Kimi ni Todoke, though, and am really loving it. There's a bit of the miscommunication and will-they-or-won't-they drama artifices, but it doesn't have the same drawn-out feeling. (Also, I prefer the roundness of the style.)

I'm pretty sure that Ayane will end up with Pin, but it's going to be a quiet thing. Or, I hope it's a quiet thing if it happens, and there have been a lot of panels suggesting that there's some sort of attraction between them, even if they don't quite realize it yet.

I only watched the anime..it is just adorable. I'm thinking of getting the manga as well, are there differences? I will wait probably for the german release which schould be in december.
I think Ayane is ending up with Pin, definitely.
Chizu and Ryu are great as well, especially Ryu, I like his quietness.

Of course the manga goes beyond the anime. I think the anime covers the first 5 or 6 volumes? Not sure.

I like Ryu however I like Tohru too and would have been happy if he loved Chizu as well.

I think Ayane and Pin would make a good pair but definitely a different one. Can't wait to get my hands on volume 5 next month.

I admit that the manga is moving way too slow and I know some people stopped reading it because of this reason but I don't mind. I guess I am tired of shoujo stories where the main couple fall in love so fast. I like them to take their time and for their feelings to develop accordingly. Of course it won't be fun if we reached volume 20 (if it will reach this number) and nothing happens. I think both Skip Beat! and Kimi ni Todoke are the same in this matter. 25 volumes of Skip Beat! and still nothing happened between Kyoko and Ren. Let's just hope Kimi ni Todoke won't drag on for long but I also don't want it to end anytime soon.

>4 HatsumiShinogu:
great, so there were really sticking to the manga..

I love Skip Beat as well, and for me it is also great if it takes a while. The Problem with Skip Beat is (for me) that the series is being serialized in a magazine in germany and we only get 2 or 3 volumes per year. I hate it.. We are actually at number 16 of the books, it's due to get out next month.
I'm thinking of switching to the english version..

i'm way caught up on the manga, and it's a little hard to keep my mouth shut (/my fingers still?), but i'll try not to spill. i've only seen maybe about 4 of the anime episodes? i didn't catch on to the pin/ayane thing (i might have been zooming on full speed ahead) in vol4, but they seem to be really heading into that direction in the later chapters.

knt was really frustrating mostly because the misunderstandings got pretty drawn out... and you really wondered *when* it was going to end. it's like a slow build-up to a climax. the next question would be how much longer the series would go for after the big inevitable. (ie, will it continue on as long as high school debut did? - i mean, by relationship and time, not by volume count)

i think i started strobe edge at about the same time as well.. that also gets me on edge just because the obstacles just seem more complicated (beginning with kazehaya not having a gf to start with, and ren, having one.. the rivals are never that threatening in knt, either).

to me, knt is another one of those stories that's more about the journey than the destination. you probably know what's going to happen already; the surprises aren't that great.. but it's how they get there that you're reading for.

Anyone still following Kimi ni Todoke? I am loving this series more and more, though I admit it has been dragging on. I am more in love with the idea of Ayane ending up with Pin but I am not sure it is going to happen anymore. :( I mean, with Kento now in the picture, who knows how things will be. He is in love with Ayane and already made it clear to her but she seems confused. There has been a lot of interactions between the two in the recent chapters and I hope that doesn't mean the mangaka is going the Kent x Ayane route. Although it is vague, we could tell that Ayane has a thing for Pin but she never voiced it out or made it clear and he is still his sloppy, oblivious self. Will it turn into a love triangle? Only time will tell.

I, for one, would love to see Pin serious and in love. I just hope he won't end up with Kurumi as they will be the only odd ones left out if Ayane decided to go out with Kento. I want Pin for Ayane and Kento for Kurumi.

What do you guys think?

out of curiosity, how far are you in KnT now?

i'm still randomly following it, although i haven't been as invested since "the big inevitable" happened. it continues to go on in a slow pace, and a few of the developments are throwing exclamation points in my head, but... i'm thinking of waiting a few more volumes (a year or two?) before going heads down on it again.

since i last read it, i was also wondering who ayane will eventually pick out... but i'm not averse to her ending up with either of the two. somehow, i like pin and kento in equal parts. ^^; i also don't think pin would ever go out with kurumi just to tie up loose ends, or that kurumi ending up with anybody as being detrimental to a happy ending. for me, anyway.

I am collecting the English tankoubons, so volume 13 was the last I read but I've also been following the scans as I can't wait for the collected volume to come out. I actually started reading the scans since episode 56 or so. I'm mainly reading them to know what is going to happen with Ayane.

At this point, I'm still not sure who Ayane is going to end up with. I wouldn't say she has the option of "choosing" yet as Pin still hasn't shown any interest in her and so it is only Kento who is after her right now. I have nothing against Kento but I don't think a relationship with him would present any challenge. I mean, Ayane had never been in love nor confessed or liked a guy before, so ending up with Kento would add nothing new as he is the one who likes her and wants to be with her. I think Ayane needs to experience falling in love and going through all these emotions in order to add something new to her character development. I'm not saying it has to be Pin but I think it'd be far more interesting if she fell in love with someone first without being forced to be in a relationship just because the guy asked her out, which is what has been happening until now. I'm anticipating the moment she confesses for the first time in her life and in the case of the guy rejecting her, I'd like to see her working hard to make him love her back.

I don't know what the mangaka has in mind but maybe she is trying to keep the readers interested by guessing who is it going to be that Ayane ends up with. I'd have to say it could go either way but Kento might have a better chance as he is her age and always around and not to mention that he made his feelings clear. On the other hand, Pin is a teacher and he is a bit difficult to figure out, so we don't know what he is really thinking or it could be that he is really dense and oblivious.

The latest I read was episode 67 and 68 is coming out soon. What about you? How far are you in?

I collect the german version, we are currently and book 11. So... I think I would love it to be Pin. Kento is tooo I don't know..boring? Maybe he'll get more character in the next books..but.. Pin is great, although sometimes annoying. But it would fit so well imo.

there is already the cover for book 16 out, soo..(probably major spoilers..)
