I have just finished reading this book.
As I say on my review page,I haven't come across another novel of exactly this period before.(ie end of the Bow Street Runners/Beginnings of the Metropolitan Police)
Albeit I have come across plenty about the hey-day of the Runners.
I found that it began really well, but got rather daft as it progressed. The hero cum anti-hero got himself into rather too many Perils-of-Pauline type scrapes (and out of them too) for my liking.
Would be interested to hear of any other opinions however, because despite the above comments, the book did make you want to continue reading and thats
the main thing.
