Any one remember this book?

I am trying to remember a book written by a South african doctor ( I think). Its a novel , bit trashy. I think his name was Van Nierop or something like that. Can anyone help?

You might be thinking of Leon van Nierop, although he's not a doctor. He is a screenwriter, novelist and film critic. Only one of his film books has so far been catalogued on LT, but he has also authored several novels -- and yes, you could call some of them a bit trashy, I guess!

No thats not it. I think there may be another van nierop. This was an English book and it was not translated

The Author is, I am sure. Jack Van Niftrik, A medical doctor. I still can't find him listed or the book name

Nothing by him in the South African National Library apart from the proceedings of a medical conference ... could it have been self-published?

The wonders of google. After remembering the name I googled him and got an email address. I wrote about 30 minutes ago and have received the following reply.

Yes. The book title is “Where Rumour Never Reaches” and was published by Jonathan Ball Publishers in 1980- hardcover and paperback
