Hopefully soon to be empty if I can sell my house.

Sweet! Where is your house?
(My next question was going to be "How much are you asking?" but since I've already transported my library from Australia to Hong Kong to Texas and back to Australia, and it grew in each of those places, the first question is the most important one!)

Lovely!
Reminds me of that cartoon by Harris (which I've probably described here before, so I won't repeat it unless you ask).

How could you sell?
Where do you live? I could use a house like this, maybe I can move it to Sudbury, In all probability your climate is better so maybe I would have to move,(side question does is have stables?) rob a few banks, invest in a couple of financial instruments be wildly sucessful and have the SEC after me and so jail would be in my future. Ah, maybe not!
(Edited for spelling caused by the excitment at seeing all those empty well made bookcases!)

Wow, I would love to move into a house with bookcases like that! Great job!

Impressive work and envious I am... I am also curious as to how/where you put them, because they are recessed. A couple of photos and captions seem to indicate you put them into an "opening", but can you elaborate? Did you have an open expanse between rooms and made a wall, of sorts, with the cases? They look like built-ins, recessed rather than stuck on or along an existing wall...

I LOVE this room! Your craftsmanship is awe inspiring.

rybie2 - I'm betting that's a basement wall and he's using the space that extends into an unfinished room - I've done similar under ducting that forced the ceiling to drop - put bookcases under the the ducting and pull the wall into the finished room and there you go. Just a guess though...

>13 johnnyapollo: I have done something simular but with slotted bookcases which can be pulled out and taken with me to my next abode except I think that I will be taken out foot first unless something unexpected happens.

Beautiful! Like some other commentors, I want your house! We have some built in bookshelves in our place but nothing like that.

When we had the basement finished I designed two "recesses" built in either wall ready for when I put the cases together.
