I have collected a few of these wonderful books. Each title was limited to 1500 copies. Each book was signed by somone involved in the production of the book -- normally the illustrator as the authors were usually dead by the time their book might be selected by the LEBC. I have nine of these: "The Birds" by Aristophanes, "Three Plays of Euripides,"Oedipus Rex," "The Captain's Daughter" by A. Pushkni, "Two Plays for Puritans" by GB Shaw, "The Man of Property" by Galsworthy, "Eugenie Brandet" by Balzac, "The Wall" by Hersey, and H. G. Wells, "Tono Bungay". From another publisher, I have a numbered volume of Oscar Wilde's "Salome" with Aubrey Beardsley illustrations.
I have also collected a number of works of Lafcadio Hearn. Hearn's books are wonderfully written. My favorite is "Two Years in the French West Indies" which is about St. Pierre (the Paris of the West Indies) and its environs some years before 1902 when it was completely destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Pelee.
