I just read that Charles Todd has started a new series featuring a WWI nurse, Bess Crawford. The first novel come out in August, called A Duty to the Dead. I really enjoy his Ian Rutledge series, so hopefully this will be just as good.

Ta AlaMich - having read one of his standalone mysteries and enjoyed it, I'm sure his vision of a WWI nurse will be streets ahead of Maisie Dobbs ;)

I didn't realize Charles Todd (it feels very odd to refer to "him" as a person when I know it's a mother-son writing team) had written any standalone novels. I'll have to check them out.

I'm reading a standalone right now - The Murder Stone and am thoroughly enjoying it.

I just read the first Bess Crawford mystery - A Duty to the Dead. It was excellent.

Glad to hear it! I don't know when I'll get around to it--the TBR list is pretty long--but I am looking forward to it. I'll also have to try the standalones.

>2 bibliotheque: I really enjoy the Ian Rutledge series - first class plots and characterizations. The Bess Crawford less so, but still enjoyable. I just know I can't read another Maisie Dobbs - what do people see in her and those books? I really have tried, but she is too much of a saint and the plots are way too contrived and unbelievable.
