Apple Keynote - iPhone and iTV (Apple TV)

I certainly hope all the Mac fans watched the keynote or at least checked out the iPhone and Apple TV on the Apple website. Also, a surprising little bit Steve slipped into his speech - they are dropping "Computer" from their name - now simply being "Apple Inc.".
No doubt it will take some time before we see the iPhone here in NZ, we only got an iTunes store before Christmas. I believe the issue here will be finding a carrier (the iPhone runs on GMS), I guess it could be Vodafone as they currently operate a GMS network (with an upgrade to UMTS pending apparently), while Telecom NZ run CDMA. They're really the only fully fledged mobile networks here.
As for the iTV well I *hope* we get it here, unlike the phone it doesn't seem to have as many variables (i.e. carriers, networks, protocols etc) that limit it's use outside the US. Fingers crossed!

1. A lot of people don't like the carrier, Cingular Wireless;
2. It's $500!!!
3. (This is personal to me): it has a camera. Camera phones are banned in the building where I work, and I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a phone that I couldn't take to the place where I spend most of my day. (I realize, of course, that this is not an issue for most people who'd be interested in the iPhone.)

I initially was put off by the price too, but then I realised that the Motorola RAZR, for instance, was $1000 here in NZ when it come out only a couple of years ago. $800 or $900 for a new iPhone that does so much seems not so bad to me, now. :-)
As for the Apple TV, I'm one of those thick people who don't "get" it. I play DVDs on my DVD player; I can burn DiVX files from my iMac to play on my DVD player (much cheaper to burn a few DVDs than buying an Apple TV); and we can't buy movies from the iTunes store.
What exactly is the use we can put it to?
