A small papyrus collection (9 items) owned by the United Theological Seminary in Dayton Ohio is currently for sale. Its Board of Trustees is exploring the sale of the collection to raise money for the seminary.

Most of the papyri were recovered from the famous site of Oxyrhynchus in Egypt by Grenfell and Hunt in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The most important piece in the collection is a Fourth Century fragment of I Peter 5:6-12. It is written in a hand closely resembling that of the famed Codex Sinaiticus.

The sale is being handled by Corporate Development Associates, Inc. (CDA). Ideally, they would like to sell the collection as a group and preferably to another institution, but will possibility consider selling the fragments individually.

A 24 page illustrated overview (pdf) of the collection and contact information is available at the following link
