Includes works on meditation, mental health, nutrition, physical fitness, yoga. Place books about medicine under SCIENCE

I hate to be one of the many complainers, but really? You expect that when people go to look for information on Health issues that they don't want to find any actual medical information, and will be content with this type of "soft" self-help type information? Because if I walked into my local library interested in looking up a medical condition, I'm pretty sure the science section wouldn't be my first bet, especially if there is a section with "health" right there in the name. I guess they would figure it out though.

It is also not entirely correct to categorize medicine as a science (it is much less scientific than might be hoped).

I agree with jlelliott -- a category called "health" when a major portion of books about health go elsewhere is very confusing.

The BISAC separation is geared toward health stuff for consumers and health stuff for professionals.

So for instance, my book on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis for people who have it is a Health book.

But the proceedings of a conference on ALS would be medicine.

I think that would be a much better separation than this one.

-4 I can see that working. I almost think it makes the most sense to have technical medical books as a subcategory under the "Health" top level category (I would ditch the fitness part, we all know Health and Fitness go together).

As sub-categories you could have books on general health, living with disease (organized by particular disease), and then books on medicine (both lay or popular and professional). You could even have a general health care category, to include books on the organization and utilization of the various health care schemes. Are these books represented somewhere else?

Maybe something like

-Health
 -- Health, general
  - Nutrition
  - Exercise/Physical Fitness
  - Mental Health (meditation and such)
-- Disease or Living with Disease, or maybe something less negative?
   - Organized by specific diseases or disease type
 -- Health Care
   - Organization and Theory
   - Medical Professions (about practicing as or becoming Nurses, PAs, etc)
   - Advice and Self-help type books (Navigating MediCare, and such like)
 -- Medicine
   - General (books about Medicine itself, Medical Dictionaries/Encyclopedia)
   - Popular or Lay works (if any do not fit into about categories)
   - Professional works
-- General (Basic texts, Human Anatomy, etc)
    -- Pharmacology
    -- Organized by medical specialty

Whew, this is hard. That makes sense to me anyway.
