As of Dec. 29, at Lexington Antiques in downtown Asheville, NC there is a large booth where almost all, if not all, hardback books are a dollar and all paperbacks are (I think) 4/$1. If they're marked with a highlighter on the inside back cover, this sale applies. All the books we saw were marked with the highlighter.
A lot of the books are fairly old. I think, with the exception of the paperbacks, most of the books were from before the 1950s, with a lot from the first half of the 20th century. My mom and I bought 37 books for $37. This included:
The Slave Who Freed Haiti (that was the newest book we bought, it being from the 1950s)
Six-volume set of Thackeray's Works from the 1880s.
Fifteen-volume set of Irving's works, no date.
Four-volume set of geography books from 1832.
Miscellaneous girl's books from 1885 to 1940, such as Beverly Gray and Katie Robertson.
Anyway, it's a great deal on books. We were very excited. The rest of the large store is pretty interesting, too, with good prices.
