Glad to see so many familiar faces from the 888 Challenge here in the 999 Challenge!

I learned a lot last year about how I pick books to read (pretty randomly!) and how difficult it is for me to stick within categories. So this year, I'm picking some boring-looking categories in order to allow myself a lot of flexibility in book selection.

First stab at categories, subject to change, of course. Actually, subject to change until I'm done with all 81 books!

I wouldn't call your categories boring. You've covered just about all the major genres. This is my first challenge and I just can't decide on 9 categories, or should I say, limit myself to 9 categories. Is especially like your Overflow category.
