A new reprint of Wolfhart Westendorf's Koptisches Handwörterbuch (Heidelberg 1977) arrived from the publisher in yesterday's post, and I thought other members of our group would want to know that it's once more accessible. (It's virtually impossible to find second hand.) Westendorf's dictionary is a revision of Wilhelm Spiegelberg's (Heidelberg 1921) (which was itself a reworking and expansion of Amedeo Peyron's Lexicon linguae copticae, Turin 1835), and like its predecessor has been published by Carl Winter Universitätsverlag in Heidelberg.

The dictionary takes all Coptic dialects into consideration, and - unlike Walter E. Crum's Coptic Dictionary - includes both ancient Egyptian (hieroglyphic) and demotic etymologies, as well as sources made available between 1939 and 1977.

Though it falls outside the budget of most personal libraries, it would be worth recommending to your local research library if they don't already have a copy.

Oh, and perhaps I'll see some of you in Cairo next week!
