Fisherman Knit Sweater for Daughter

My daughter Torri wants me to knit her a classic fisherman's knit sweater, Does anyone know where to get a great free pattern.

Lion brand has several Aran sweaters on their website (all free) and Debbie Bliss and other designers have free ones on Ravelry if you're a member there. Also see Knitting Pattern Central for many, many choices.

Google is your friend. Here are a few that I found by searching for “free pattern aran sweater”.

Classic cabled Aran

Gansey style pullover

This site has many free patterns; click on the “sweaters” link below the words “Ponchos & Capes”.

If you are not already on Ravelry, you may want to join (membership is free). They have hundreds of patterns tagged "cables". Many are free; others are available for download at reasonable prices. And you can see examples members have made in various yarns, colors, and sizes.

Oh, and because this is LT--you may find exactly what you want by going to your local library and checking out all the related books!

And if you have an all-purpose pattern for drop-shoulder, saddle-shoulder or modified drop-shoulder pattern you like, and a stitch dictionary or Aran/Guernsey/Cable book with a variety of patterns, you can swatch and design your own.
