2008 Reading: How's It Going?

How are you progressing in your reading this year? Did you set a goal for yourself at the outset of 2008? If so, how close are you to that goal?

I set a goal of 75 books for myself this year. This is actually my low goal -- I would really like to break 100 -- but I figured 75 would be more manageable. Right now I'm at 55 so I'm more hopeful that 100 will happen.

I set out a bit modestly with 50. I just finished #40 a day or two ago, so I think I just might hit 75 myself if I keep going strong.

I'm also on 75 books, but started late this year. Still believe I'll manage - as I just read now my No 46. Lately I also joined the challenge where I need to read 64 books until the end of this year. That may be though, but let's see.

I set a goal of 100 beginning in March. I'm currently at around 75, so I'm hopeful that I might be able to stretch just a tad and reach 150.

I foolishly set myself a target of 100,000 pages until I realized that is essentially a book/day (always do the math first). I've read about 34 books so far (not including dreaded textbooks).

I set out to read "more than last year," which was a paltry thirty odd books, if you'd pushed me in January, I'd have probably answered, "Oh around 50, hopefully."

Well, my read in 2008 tag shows 62 books and climbing, so with any luck I hope to break the 100 barrier.

I didn't set a goal for this year but I plan on having one for next year. I'm hoping LibraryThing will help me keep track so I have an idea of a realistic goal.

I have been a manic reader this year. Last year I finished at 99 and I passed 100 some time in July. One of the perks of no TV or computer at home is plenty of spare time for reading.

Although I never set goals, it seems that I can't avoid competing with myself. Two years ago, I read 150 books for the year. Last year, I read 153. As of today, I've read 117. Last year at this time I'd read 95, so it looks as though I might break my record again.
