i have a strict budget of up to 300 pesos for the more literary-oriented ones on my xmas list. so far if have bob ong's ABNKKBSNPLAko?! (pls. correct my spelling), alamat ng gubat, and stainless longganisa. they're cheap (average of 130 pesos/ copy), and the books have their moments. okay na yun. i also got adarna kids' books as well as the lola basyang books by christine s. bellen. i went over the budget on a few like arnold arre's ang mundo ni andong agimat and after eden for my two teenaged cousins.

i also got 13: thirteen stories that capture the agony and ecstasy of being thirteen edited by james howe and lord of the flies for two other teens.

have a hard time with the adults. any suggestions? (remember cheap and worthwhile books--if possible less than 300 pesos.

There is a set of books, short story collections, out from UP Press, this year. Attractive covers. Good reading (so far). The Children's Hour: Stories on Childhood, Vols I and II. They each cost P200.

anikins, yes I recommend that too.

Or if you want something really funny, try the Kikomachine comics, by Manix Abrera. Knockout talaga.
